Event name: Meet the Hypogenic Caves

Event description: On the occasion of the International Year of Caves, the Hypogenic Caves 2021 project is
created to help identify hypogenic caves through images on social networks Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
and a website dedicated to them. During 52 weeks of the 2021 an image of a cavity will be published weekly describing the morphologies, speleothems or their relationship with the hypogenic caves.

Event description: The Speleological Section of the Polish Copernicus Society of Naturalists organizes a webinar every month in 2021 about caves and karst. We will present regional topics presenting Polish cave areas: Tatra Mts, Sudetes, Outer Carpathians, Silesian-Kraków Upland, Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Mountains, as well as discuss various aspects of speleology: geology, palaeontology, archaeology, palaeoclimatology, hydrology, etc.

Event name: Activities for the 50th anniversary of  Spéléo Québec

Event description: To celebrate Spéléo Québec’s 50th anniversary and to mark the International Year of Caves and Karst, our organization will organize a wide variety of activities. There will be public lectures, a geological excursion and a research camp for new caves as well as a national gathering of Quebec cavers.  A family day of introduction to caving is also on the calendar. The inauguration of a reception building at the Trou du diable and the development of the Saint-Léonard cave in order to introduce a larger number of peoples to caving is planned. There will also be several launches, including a book on Quebec caves and karst, a documentary on the history of caving and the launch of other publications is planned.

Event name: Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists Karst Hazards Forum

Event description: The Karst Hazards Forum (KHF) will address Karst, Pseudokarst, and Anthropogenic Sinkholes (karst-like erosion due to human activities). The KHF’s goal is to bring together specialists, who will explain these features and formative processes, their professional investigations and measures to avoid or mitigate karst hazards, and provide case histories of these hazards. The forum will describe how karst impacts existing infrastructure, could potentially affect new construction, and may be avoided by land-use planning.

Event name: National Speleological Society, Annual Convention in Weed, California USA!

Event description: Over 1,000 cavers from across North America and around the world will gather near California’s 14-thousand foot Mount Shasta Volcano for our annual convention. This week-long event includes extensive presentations across all disciplines related to cave science: archaeology, geology, biology and more. Evening social events and regional cave trips round out the schedule. Hundreds of lava and limestone caves will be available for visitation by our guests.

Event name: Scientific conference and ceremonial meeting at the occassion of the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Demanova Cave of Liberty and 150th anniversary of the first speleoarchaeological research in the territory of Slovakia. Event description: Slovak Caves Administration will organize its 13th scientific conference “Research, Use and Protection of Caves” with extended programme concerning the IYCK 2021 in cooperation with the Slovak Museum of Nature Protection and Speleology. The Slovak Speleological Society will organize its regular “Cave Week” in the Demanova Valley to commemorate the 100th anniversary from the discovery of well-known Demanova Cave of Liberty with practical speleological activities and caving lectures.
